Flourishes and the Art of Cardistry

According to the Virts, "the art of card flourishing is like a dance of a deck in the hands." Card flourishes are visual displays of skill performed with a deck of playing cards. The technique of flourishing is highly reliant on ones finger dexterity. Many flourishes look extremely complex and difficult, but the true challenge that the flourisher faces is controlling all the packets of a cards and not dropping any cards while accomplishing the flourish. In essence, flourishes are a sequence of card cuts that look visually attractive. The techniques for flourishing revolves around packet control. The art of cardistry is to make the packets dance. The seemingly effortless twirls and movements of the cards become aesthetically beautiful.
With cardistry, the choice of a deck is important. With the massive selection of cards in the whole industry, finding a deck of cards that suit your own aesthetic tastes and also looks good for flourishes can be difficult. But with enough research, it is possible that finds the deck that suits your preferences.
Even though cardistry moves can be extremely complex, each complete flourish can be broken down into individual actions that can be learned and pieced together. Eventually, muscle memory kicks in and the flourish happens on its own.
